South Africa Week 3 (2/20/17-2/26/17)
This has been an interesting week to say the least. I have
had to play "Mom" to 4 precious children, which put my patience to
the test.
Now a little backstory:
I mentioned in my
first blog post how Julia has been having stomach issues. The medication the
doctor gave her has not been helping so he sent her to the hospital on Tuesday
afternoon and she stayed there until Friday evening. They didn't really find
out much, which is the main reason why she came home. Please continue to pray
for healing and answers. She goes back to the hospital for more testing on
Monday.
While Julia was in the hospital I was in charge of the
kids. I have watched a lot of My Little
Pony, Wild Kratts, and a ton of other
little kid movies. I now have an enormous amount of respect for moms. I still
don't know how moms manage to stay calm after being asked the same question for
the millionth time or come up with activities to keep all your kids entertained
all day every day.
A few stories from the week:
Tuesday afternoon, all the kids went to swim lessons with
Uncle Randy, so I was left at home with Chisomo. I put on a show to keep her
entertained while all the Clark kids were gone. We just bought new couches and
the dogs aren't supposed to be on them, however, they somehow got in with out
me noticing. All of a sudden I hear this smacking noise and Chisomo states that
one of the dogs threw up on the new fabric couch!
*insert face palm here*
Being the only responsible one home, I cleaned it up and
told Uncle Randy when he got home.
On Wednesday, Uncle Randy took Marissa to art class,
leaving me to once again be the only responsible. For some reason, adventure
likes to seek me out when I'm the only one home! The kids were playing outside
with the door open when a bird flew into the house. There are no screens on the
windows or doors here, only burglar bars to keep out thieves. Sadly, the bird
got trapped between the bars over the windows and the glass. I tried
opening the window, but as it was struggling to get out, the dogs came along,
making the situation worse. I finally got the bird out of the house just as the
dogs started to attack it. I'm sorry to report that the bird did not survive
this ordeal.
The rest of the week continued to be fairly uneventful.
Except for the occasional argument, it stayed quiet. I am grateful for the
learning experience that this week has been.

Micah wants to know how the bird got stuck. He also wants to know why the dog threw-up. I told him that's not really important. We are praying for you!
